Vortrag im Rahmen der Ringvorlesung "Natur Geschlecht Politik"

"This lecture will challenge Thomas Laqueur's model of an 18th century watershed between ancient and modern, between 'one-sex' and 'two-sex' bodies. It will focus on the Hippocratic model of a difference between the sexes based not on genitalia but on the texture of the flesh, and will examine the rediscovery of this model in the later history of Western medicine. It will also focus on the womb, as the organ which fits least well into a 'one-sex' model of the inversion of reproductive organs."
